Ishan Kishan In Indian Team IND vs BAN T20I:

Ishan Kishan was seen playing for India C in the recently played Duleep Trophy 2024. He played two matches in the tournament, in which a century was also seen from his bat. However, despite scoring a century in the Duleep Trophy, Ishan may have to wait longer to get into Team India. So let us know why Ishan can be ignored once again.

The Indian team is currently playing a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Team India has won the first match of the series. Now the second and last Test of the series will be played in Kanpur from September 27. After the Test series, a three-match T20 series will be played between India and Bangladesh from October 06. It was expected that Ishan, who scored a century in the Duleep Trophy, could be given a chance in the T20 series against Bangladesh, but now looking at the figures that have come out, it seems that Ishan will have to wait longer to return to Team India.

Actually, the Irani Cup will be played between 01 and 05 October at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Ishan Kishan has been included in the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup, while Sanju Samson has been kept away from the team. The T20 series to be played between India and Bangladesh is to start the very next day of the Irani Cup. However, the selectors can remove the player from the domestic match for the international match.

Looking at the Irani Cup, it is being speculated that Sanju Samson can be made a part of Team India in the T20 series against Bangladesh. Sanju batted brilliantly in four innings of the Duleep Trophy and scored 196 runs. However, before this, Sanju’s bat looked completely silent in the T20 series played against Sri Lanka. He got a chance to play two matches of the series, in which he was out on 0-0.

At the same time, Ishan played his last T20 match for Team India in November 2023. Ishan was also out without opening his account in his last match. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see who gets a chance in the T20 series against Bangladesh.

Ishan Kishan, the young and dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman, has made a name for himself with his explosive batting, versatility, and energetic presence on the field. Despite his talents and some notable performances, Kishan finds himself in a challenging situation when it comes to securing a consistent spot in Team India. With fierce competition for spots and specific team dynamics at play, there are a few reasons why Kishan may have to wait a little longer for his return to the Indian side.

1. Strong Competition for Wicketkeeper-Batsman Role

One of the main reasons Ishan Kishan is struggling to break into the Indian playing XI is the stiff competition for the wicketkeeper-batsman role. Rishabh Pant has cemented his place in the team as the primary choice in all formats due to his explosive batting and match-winning abilities, particularly in Test matches and T20Is. Pant’s consistent performances and the trust he has earned from the management make it difficult for Kishan to get regular opportunities.

Additionally, KL Rahul’s ability to perform multiple roles — as a top-order batsman and wicketkeeper — has made him a crucial asset for Team India. Rahul has been used as a flexible option, often slotting into various positions in the batting order while providing backup wicketkeeping, making it harder for Kishan to secure a spot.

2. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the Top

Ishan Kishan, who usually opens the batting in white-ball cricket, faces a huge challenge in displacing established openers like Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rohit’s position as captain and his unmatched record in limited-overs cricket solidify his place at the top, while Shubman Gill has been in scintillating form, scoring runs consistently in both ODIs and Tests.

With these two firing at the top, it’s tough for Kishan to break into the opening combination. He has occasionally been used in the middle order, but Team India seems more inclined to use him as a backup opener, which limits his opportunities in the playing XI.

3. Team Combination and Stability

Team India has been focusing on building a stable and balanced lineup ahead of major tournaments, including the ICC events. The management has been keen on giving players consistent opportunities to settle into their roles, which leaves little room for experimentation. Kishan, despite his explosive style, has been seen as more of a backup option in the current setup.

In limited-overs cricket, India has been relying on experienced middle-order players like Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya, which means there are fewer openings for a player like Kishan, who is typically used as a top-order batsman.

4. Inconsistent Performances in International Cricket

While Ishan Kishan has shown flashes of brilliance, including his record-breaking double century in ODIs, his performances have been inconsistent at the international level. His ability to dominate bowlers in domestic cricket and the IPL hasn’t always translated to the international stage. When given chances, Kishan has struggled to produce the kind of consistent results that would make him an automatic pick in the team.

In a highly competitive environment, consistency is key, and until Kishan can deliver back-to-back match-winning performances, his selection will likely remain limited to backup or rotational roles.

5. The Rise of Young Talent

India’s cricketing depth is remarkable, with several young players constantly knocking on the door for selection. Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have all made strong cases for themselves in the top order, making Kishan’s return even more difficult. The team management is inclined to give these players ample opportunities to prove themselves, meaning Kishan faces even stiffer competition from his contemporaries.

What Does the Future Hold for Ishan Kishan?

Despite the current challenges, all hope is not lost for Ishan Kishan. He remains a highly talented player, and his aggressive approach and ability to change the game in a matter of overs make him a valuable asset for Team India in the long run. Injuries, workload management, or a shift in team strategy could open up opportunities for him to step back into the playing XI.

Conclusion

Ishan Kishan’s road back to the Indian cricket team may be long, but his talent and potential ensure that he remains in the reckoning. With competition for spots at an all-time high, Kishan will need to stay patient, continue honing his skills, and make the most of every opportunity he gets in domestic cricket and the IPL. His time will come, but for now, he may have to wait just a little longer to make his mark on the international stage.
