Kolkata Knight Riders have not retained Shreyas Iyer. They have decided to retain six players Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty. At the same time, Shreyas Iyer, who has been leading the team since 2022, has not been retained. Shreyas has been released from his contract by Kolkata, so he will appear in this year’s IPL 2025 auction.

Iyer can join Delhi Capital 

Many teams may be keen to sign him in this auction. Delhi Capitals will also have their eyes on him first. The reason for this is that the franchise has also released its captain Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, a big report has come out about Shreyas Iyer. In a report by Inside Sports, citing sources, it is being claimed that Delhi may spend money on Iyer in the auction. 

A Delhi Capitals official told PTI, “There are many teams who do not want Iyer as a T20 batsman, but want to add him to their franchise as captain. But keep in mind that Delhi can spend a big amount on this player. They will probably come into the field to bid for Iyer.”

Iyer made his IPL debut with Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals can buy Shreyas Iyer in the auction and can also give him the captaincy. Delhi also has a huge amount of Rs 73 crore left for the auction. Iyer made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2015. He played for this team till 2021. He was also the regular captain of this team from 2018 to 2020

Under his leadership, Delhi has won 21 out of 41 matches. Under his leadership, Delhi played the IPL final for the first time in 2020. But at that time they had to be content with the runner-up position as they had to face defeat against Mumbai Indians.
