Devdutt Padikal was ruled out of the Adelaide Test.
Team India ‘s star batsman and Sanju Samson’s friend Devdutt Padikkal, who played for him in the IPL, did not get a place in the playing 11 for the Adelaide Test. However, speculations were already being made about this. After the entry of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, Padikkal’s place was certain to be cut. Padikkal batted at number three in the Perth Test but Shubman Gill has been playing at this number for the last 2 years. Gill was injured in the first Test match but he has returned in the second Test.
Devdutt Padikkal’s bat did not work in the Perth Test
Talking about Devdutt Padikkal, he got a chance to debut for Team India in the Perth Test but in the debut match, Padikkal could not impress the selectors and fans much. He had a chance to take advantage of the opportunity and cement his place in the team but he missed out on doing so. After returning to the pavilion on a score of 0 in the first innings, Padikkal scored only 25 runs in 71 balls in the second innings.
Will he return to Team India ?
On the basis of performance, the Australian tour was nothing special for Padikkal. Earlier, while playing for India A, no big innings was seen from his bat. After this, he proved to be a failure in the Perth Test. He was also unsold in the first round of the IPL 2025 mega auction. But RCB has added Devdutt Padikkal to its team in the second round at the base price. Looking at the current circumstances, his return to Team India may be difficult. However, by scoring runs with the bat in domestic cricket, Padikkal can again stake a claim for a comeback in the coming times.
