This is the first time in the 92-year history of Test cricket that New Zealand has whitewashed India in their own home. Rohit Sharma is currently the captain of Team India in the ODI format . But his tenure is not much longer now. He may announce his retirement from international cricket after the Champions Trophy 2025. After him, Hardik Pandya can be appointed as the new captain of the Indian team in the ODI format. Hardik Pandya can be the captain of the ODI team on the New Zealand tour. Under his captaincy, Team India has lost 2 and won 1 out of 3 matches so far. 

These players will get a place in the team

New players may get a place for the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand. Because by then many senior players would have announced their retirement. This includes the names of players like Rohit Sharma , Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja . Team India will be selected for this series keeping in mind the preparations for the World Cup 2027. In which Nitish Kumar Reddy can get a place in the team as an all-rounder along with Hardik Pandya.
