- The selection committee headed by chief selector Ajit Agarkar has announced the new Team India for the Champions Trophy 2025. Two players including Bumrah have been shown the way out.
Champions Trophy 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the new Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025 on Tuesday (11 February). The selection committee led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar has completely excluded Jasprit Bumrah from this tournament. Bumrah has not been able to get fit yet and it seemed very difficult for him to get fit before the tournament (Champions Trophy 2025), due to which he was dropped from the 15-member team. Apart from Bumrah, a young player has also been suddenly dropped.
This bowler got a chance in place of Bumrah

Bumrah had to struggle with a back strain in the first innings of the final Test of the five-match Test series played on the Australia tour, but it was expected that this dashing bowler would be fit before the Champions Trophy 2025. But Bumrah has been dropped from the new 15-member team released on February 11. Harshit Rana has been included in the 15-member squad in place of main fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. The special thing is that Harshit has played only two ODIs for India so far, in which his performance has been average. At the same time, experienced bowlers like Mohammed Siraj have also not been given a chance.
Varun’s surprise delivery
Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has also been included in the 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. Varun’s name was nowhere to be seen in the provisional squad released on January 18. No one was even discussing the name of this player, but in the new squad released on February 11, chief selector Ajit Agarkar has thrown a mystery delivery in the form of Varun Chakravarthy. Varun has been included in place of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, after which now five spinners (Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy) have been included in Team India.
The tournament will start on February 19
The Champions Trophy 2025, popularly known as the Mini World Cup, will begin on February 19 with a fierce match between Pakistan and New Zealand.
