Since then, the Indian team management was looking for a replacement for Shubman Gill. At the same time, now good news has come in this episode. According to reports, the BCCI has included a player who played a Test match in the team in place of Shubman Gill. 

Team India got a replacement for Shubman Gill 

Ahead of the start of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 , Indian players are sweating it out in nets practice. After suffering a humiliating defeat in the three-match Test series against New Zealand at home, Team India would like to make a strong comeback against Australia. For this, the team played a practice match at the WACA before the Perth Test, on the second day of which young batsman Shubman Gill got seriously injured. His thumb got fractured when the ball hit his hand while fielding. Due to this he had to be ruled out of the first Test. 

A player who played a test match got entry in the team 

After Shubman Gill was ruled out, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suddenly given a place in the team to a Test match player. According to the report quoted by ESPNcricinfo, young Devdutt Padikkal has been included in the team as a replacement for Shubman Gill. He had gone to Australia for the IND s vs AUS A unofficial Test series. At the same time, now the BCCI has stopped him from being with the team for the first Test match. The 24-year-old batsman made his Test debut against England in March 2024. 

Debuted in 2024 

Devdutt Padikkal has played only one Test match for India so far. During this, he made a mark with his batting by playing a stormy innings of 65 runs in an innings. Apart from this, he was also impressive in the unofficial Test against Australia A. If we talk about his first class cricket career, he has scored 2677 runs in 66 innings of 60 matches, which includes six centuries and 17 half-centuries. In the absence of Shubman Gill, he can come to bat in the middle order.
