Mohammed Siraj: On Saturday, Indian selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma announced the 15-member Team India for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. A big decision has been taken by showing the dreaded fast bowler Mohammed Siraj the way out of the team. Now Rohit Sharma has given a big statement while talking on this matter and has revealed the reason behind dropping Mohammed Siraj from the team. So let’s know what is this whole matter…
The reason for dropping Mohammad Siraj was revealed
Indian fans are stunned to see Mohammed Siraj’s name missing from Team India announced on January 18 for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar has taken a big decision by dropping him. Despite his impressive performance in 50-over cricket, he was not selected for this marquee tournament, after which many questions were raised on the team management including the BCCI.
Because of this, he did not get a place in the team
Now Rohit Sharma has made a big revelation behind the exclusion of Mohammed Siraj. In the press conference held for the announcement of the team, Hitman said that he had to be dropped from the team due to not being impressed with the old ball. He said that,
“Mohammed Siraj does not bowl with the new ball. And when the ball gets old, his effect also decreases. We need a bowler who is effective with both the old and new ball.”
Statement on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness
While giving an update on the fitness of fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah in the press conference, Rohit Sharma said that the BCCI medical team will give information about his availability in early February. He said,
“We are awaiting Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness report and will know about his fitness from the BCCI medical team in early February. Harshit Rana has been included in the team as Bumrah’s backup for the ODI series against England.”
He said this on players becoming a part of domestic cricket
Recently BCCI has made it mandatory for all contracted players to play domestic cricket. Stating this matter, he said that,
“In the last 6-7 years, we haven’t had time to sit at home for 45 days. If you look at our domestic season, it starts in October and ends by February-March. This is the time when the Indian cricket team plays the most. Some players even play all three formats. You hardly have any time. When you play so much international cricket, you need some time off.”
