Due to poor form, Gautam Gambhir may drop Rohit Sharma from the Border Gavaskar Trophy on the Australia tour. After excluding Rohit, a player who has previously captained Team India can be included in the team.

Team India and captain Sharma are currently facing criticism due to poor form. Due to this, he may have to be dropped from the Australia tour. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team management can take this decision considering his poor form.

Sharma’s recent Test form has been very poor and in the last 10 innings, he has scored only one half-century. If reports are to be believed, Rohit may withdraw his name from the first two Test matches on his own, for which he has cited his personal reasons. The former Indian captain may be included in the team in his place.

If Sharma is dropped from Team India, then former Team India captain Ajinkya Rahane can be included in his place. Rahane captained Team India on the last Australia tour and Team India won the series under his captaincy. Along with this, Rahane’s performance has also been excellent in Australia. Rahane has played 12 Test matches in Australia in which he has scored 884 runs at an average of 42.09. Along with this, he also has two centuries to his name in Australia.

Captain Rohit Sharma’s form remains a cause of concern for Team India. The last century from Rohit Sharma’s bat came against England at Dharamshala ground. Along with this, his statistics are a testimony to the fact that he does not score runs in Australia.

Rohit has played 14 innings in Australia in which he has scored 408 runs with his bat and his average has been just 31.38. Along with this, he has not scored a single century on Australian soil. Seeing Rohit’s performance, the team management will have to take some strict steps.
