Indian captain Rohit Sharma will not be available for the first Test match to be played against Australia. Due to personal reasons, he will not be able to be a part of this match. In his absence, fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah will be given the command of Team India. At the same time, the former Indian wicketkeeper is not at all happy with Rohit Sharma’s decision to stay away from the Perth Test match. Because of this, he took a dig at Hitman and advised him to be a part of the match.

Former wicketkeeper reprimanded Rohit Sharma

After losing the three-match Test series against New Zealand 3-0, the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has become very important for the Indian team. If Team India loses this series, then its dream of playing the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025 will be shattered.

In such a situation, captain Rohit Sharma’s absence from the Perth Test match can prove to be very costly for the team. Actually, Hitman has recently become a father for the second time, due to which he has asked for a break from BCCI to spend time with his family. At the same time, now the former Indian wicketkeeper has reprimanded him on this matter.

Rohit Sharma was reprimanded

Former wicketkeeper Surendra Khanna, while talking to IANS, said that congratulations to Rohit Sharma for becoming a father for the second time and his family being complete. But now he should join the team as soon as possible. Narrating his anecdote, the former player said that he played a match after returning from the reception. He told,

“First of all, I want to congratulate Rohit and his family on this happy occasion. Rohit now has a daughter and a son, which means his family is complete now and congratulations to him for that. Now Rohit should join the team as soon as possible. I remember when I got married, I had to return for a match on the day of my reception. When I reached my room, it was 4 in the morning and my wife woke me up to go to the airport for the match. This kind of commitment gives a different identity to the players.”

India will miss Rohit Sharma

The absence of Rohit Sharma in the Perth Test match will have a huge impact on Team India’s batting combination. In his absence, the team management can make young batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul open the innings. But this pair will not be able to make the same impact on the fast and swinging pitch of Perth as the Hitman could have.

On one hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal will be batting on the Australian pitch for the first time, while on the other hand KL Rahul is currently out of form. Apart from this, captaincy against the Kangaroo team can be challenging for Jasprit Bumrah.
