Rishabh Pant IPL 2025:

Rishabh Pant returned to the Indian Test team and played the first Test against Bangladesh. Pant looked in good rhythm in the Test played against Bangladesh in Chennai. Meanwhile, important news came out about Pant’s IPL future, in which it was told that Pant’s salary may increase next year i.e. in IPL 2025. So will Pant leave Delhi Capitals due to salary hike? So let’s know the whole matter.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Pant met Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal before the Test against Bangladesh. In this meeting held in Mumbai, Pant talked about the players’ contract. At the same time, it was also mentioned in the report that Pant’s IPL salary may increase while he remains associated with Delhi Capitals. Before the 2022 mega auction, Delhi retained Pant for a price of Rs 16 crore. This time Pant’s price may increase.

“Pant’s current IPL salary is Rs 16 crore, but the figure is expected to increase depending on the total player purse given to the franchises and the retention fee guidelines set by the BCCI,” the report said.

The report talked about the players to be retained by the team. It was said, “If the BCCI allows retaining more than five players, then Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are expected to be retained. In the same order, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs will be the foreign retainers. Apart from this, if there is a provision to retain uncapped players, then the Delhi management is expected to go with wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel.”

As the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) approaches, rumors and speculations about player transfers and team strategies are already gaining momentum. One of the biggest questions circulating in the cricketing world is whether Rishabh Pant, the star wicketkeeper-batsman and captain of the Delhi Capitals, will remain with his current franchise or make a move to another team. With his growing stature and the unpredictability of the IPL auction system, Pant’s future in the Delhi Capitals jersey is a hot topic of discussion.

Pant’s Journey with Delhi Capitals

Rishabh Pant has been a vital part of the Delhi Capitals since his debut in 2016. Over the years, he has become the face of the franchise, both as a dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman and as their captain. Pant took over the leadership role in 2021, and under his captaincy, Delhi has been a consistent playoff contender. His aggressive batting, coupled with his ability to absorb pressure, has made him a match-winner on several occasions.

Despite his injury setback in 2023, which kept him out of the IPL that season, Pant remains one of the most valuable players in the league. His rehabilitation and return to form in 2024 have reignited discussions about his future with the Capitals. As IPL 2025 approaches, the question on everyone’s mind is: Will Pant continue his journey with Delhi or explore new horizons?

The Case for Staying with Delhi Capitals

  1. Leadership Stability
Pant’s leadership has been instrumental in Delhi Capitals’ recent success. Under his guidance, Delhi has built a balanced squad, with a mix of young talents and experienced players. The franchise values his tactical acumen and ability to inspire teammates. Staying with Delhi would offer Pant the stability and support system that he has been part of for nearly a decade.
  2. Franchise Loyalty
Pant has a long-standing association with the Delhi Capitals, and there’s a strong bond between the player and the franchise. Delhi has invested heavily in his development and leadership skills, making him the cornerstone of their future plans. It would make sense for Pant to continue with a team where he is not only valued but also holds a leadership position.
  3. Fan Base
Over the years, Pant has cultivated a massive fan base in Delhi. The loyalty of fans, the emotional connection with the franchise, and the support of the city are factors that could influence his decision to stay. A move away from Delhi could mean starting over with a new fan base, which might not be ideal for a player who enjoys such strong support from his home team.

Reasons for a Possible Move

  1. Auction Dynamics
The IPL auction is unpredictable, and even the most established players have faced transfers due to auction strategies or financial constraints. If Delhi Capitals are forced into a situation where they need to release some high-profile players, Pant’s name might come up, either due to budget constraints or the need to rebuild. The auction dynamics could see Pant being bought by another team willing to pay top dollar for his services.
  2. New Challenges
After years with the same franchise, Pant may feel the urge to explore new challenges. A fresh environment, different teammates, and a new franchise could present him with exciting opportunities. The chance to lead another team or play under a different captain might be tempting for a player looking to expand his horizons.
  3. Interest from Other Teams
Given Pant’s prowess with the bat and his leadership qualities, he is bound to attract interest from multiple franchises. Teams looking for an explosive middle-order batsman and a potential captain would be eager to secure his services. If the right offer comes along, Pant could be swayed by a lucrative contract and the prospect of new adventures.

Possible Destinations if Pant Leaves Delhi

  1. Mumbai Indians
With their history of nurturing talent and building strong squads, Mumbai Indians could be a potential suitor for Pant. Mumbai is known for investing in long-term players and offering them a platform to shine. A move to Mumbai would also place Pant in a highly competitive and successful environment, giving him the chance to play alongside top international stars.
  2. Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB has long been in search of a player who can bring stability to their middle order and take over the captaincy mantle. Pant’s aggressive style fits well with RCB’s philosophy, and his arrival could finally give them the balance they need to challenge for the IPL title. Moreover, the prospect of playing alongside Virat Kohli and other RCB stars might be an enticing option.
  3. Lucknow Super Giants
A relatively new team in the IPL, Lucknow Super Giants have shown promise but are still looking for a leader to take them to the next level. Pant’s leadership experience could be exactly what Lucknow needs. Additionally, Pant moving to Lucknow would allow him to lead a team with the potential to grow and succeed under his guidance.

What Lies Ahead?

As of now, nothing is confirmed regarding Rishabh Pant’s future with Delhi Capitals. While his long-standing association with the franchise suggests that he will stay, the unpredictable nature of the IPL means anything is possible. Pant is at the peak of his career, and both he and the Capitals will carefully evaluate their options before making any decisions.

For Pant, staying with Delhi would mean continuing his legacy with a team he has grown with, but a move could open up new opportunities and challenges, possibly in a leadership role with another franchise.

Conclusion

Rishabh Pant’s future in IPL 2025 will be one of the biggest storylines of the season. While the odds of him staying with Delhi Capitals are high, the ever-changing dynamics of the IPL auction and the lure of new challenges might prompt a move. Whether Pant decides to remain loyal to Delhi or takes up a new adventure with another franchise, one thing is certain: Rishabh Pant will be a force to reckon with in IPL 2025, and fans can expect him to continue his explosive performances, no matter which jersey he wears.
