  • KKR: Former Indian Premier League champions Kolkata Knight Riders may appoint these two players as captain and vice-captain for IPL 2025.

IPL 2025: A lot of money was spent on the players on the first day of the mega auction of IPL 2025 going on in Jeddah, UAE. Rishabh Pant and 
Shreyas Iyer became the two most expensive players in IPL history, while in the auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) surprised everyone by bidding 23.75 crores on Venkatesh Iyer.
Whereas his base price was only Rs 2 crore. Earlier , Iyer was with the Kolkata Knight Riders team with a salary of 8 crores. With this, on the first day of the auction, Kolkata has also cleared the picture of the captain and vice-captain for IPL 2025 .

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought South Africa’s aggressive wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Cock in the auction for Rs 3.60 crore. Looking at the current team combination and purchase, Kolkata Knight Riders can appoint Quinton de Cock as captain for the IPL 2025 season. Quinton has captaincy experience. He has been the captain of Africa’s Test team in the 2020-21 season.

Apart from this, he has also captained the Durban Super Giants in the South Africa T20 League. While captaining the African team in ODIs, he scored a century in his very first match as captain in 2020.  Apart from De Kock, Venkatesh Iyer can be made the vice-captain. He is the most expensive player in the current team. 

A big bet was also placed on this player

After Venkatesh Iyer, the second most surprising pick for KKR in the mega auction was Rehmanullah Gurbaz . Kolkata Knight Riders also bought Rehmanullah Gurbaz at his base price i.e. Rs 2 crore  . Let us tell you that Gurbaz is a big name in white ball cricket. In the recent past, he has performed brilliantly with the bat in ODI and T20 cricket.

KKR  had retained 6 players 

Before the mega auction of IPL 2025 , Kolkata Knight Riders retained the maximum number of 6 players. KKR retained Rinku Singh , Sunil Narine , Varun Chakraborty , Andre Russell , Harshit Rana , Ramandeep Singh.
