- Team India is ready for the Champions Trophy 2025. But the explosive batsman and brilliant wicketkeeper is trying to make his way back to Team India.
The Indian team is going to play its first match against Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy 2025 tomorrow i.e. on 20 February. KL Rahul is expected to be included in the playing 11 as a wicketkeeper. Recently, after the news of Pant’s injury, there was talk of the return of the 26-year-old explosive wicketkeeper-batsman to the team. But the BCCI does not seem to be in the mood to bring this wicketkeeper-batsman back to Team India. A decision taken by the player at the beginning of his career seems to be the reason for the break in his career.
Champions Trophy: When the player decides to return from the middle of the series
There is no doubt that it is not easy to make a place in the Indian men’s cricket team. At the same time, after making a place in the team, it is even more difficult to be included in the playing 11. Troubled by this problem, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan left the team in the middle of the series. Ishan Kishan left the South Africa tour of 2023-24 midway and went back.
Then BCCI directed him to play Ranji for Jharkhand, but Ishan did not participate in the match citing mental fatigue. After this BCCI removed Ishan Kishan from BCCI’s central contract citing indiscipline. Not only this, BCCI also clearly stated in the contract that his name has not even been considered for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Let us tell you, Ishan Kishan first made his T20 debut for Team India against Australia in March 2021. Then he got opportunities to be continuously associated with the team in the year 2023. According to reports, Ishan Kishan was a part of the team from India’s first series of the year 2023. Ishan was also a part of the T20 and ODI series with Sri Lanka and New Zealand with Team India.
Then he was also selected for the Test series against Australia. He also went on the West Indies tour but was not a part of the playing 11. Ishan was also in the Indian team during the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup 2023. But Ishan got a chance to play only two matches of the World Cup when Shubman Gill was not in a position to play due to dengue.
Ishaan Kishan had talked about mental fatigue
Ishan Kishan played his last match against Australia in November 2023. Since then he has been out of the team continuously. While talking to the Indian Express, he told me the reason for taking a break from Team India. Talking about the South Africa tour, Ishan Kishan said that I was scoring runs and then I found myself on the bench.

These things happen in team sports. But I was feeling travel fatigue. It meant something was wrong, I was not feeling well so I decided to take a break. However, sadly, no one understood it except my family and a few close people.
The veterans had raised questions about Ishaan’s statement
Cricket experts had mixed opinions on Ishan Kishan’s mental fatigue. Many people, including Ajay Jadeja, raised questions about not giving him a chance. Also, many experts raised questions about mental fatigue at the beginning of his career. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan also appeared in Dubai and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, which created a lot of uproars.
Also, after Ishaan’s break, there was IPL. Some of his videos went viral in which he was seen practicing for IPL. Which people raised the question of whether this is mental fatigue or preparation for IPL… Now the result is that the 26-year-old explosive player is making his way back to Team India.
