India Squad For 2nd Test Against Bangladesh:

The second test match between India and Bangladesh is to be played in Kanpur from 27 September. BCCI has not yet announced the Indian team for this test. The victory of the Indian team in the first test being played in Chennai is almost certain. The team for the second test will be announced after the end of this test.

According to the report, many changes can be seen in Team India in the second Test. Star fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah can be given rest in the second Test. Team India has come with three fast bowlers in the first Test being played in Chennai. However, two fast bowlers and three spinners are likely to play in Kanpur.

Ishan Kishan may return

Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan scored a century in the Duleep Trophy. He is in great form. Earlier, he had also scored a century in the Buchi Babu tournament. In such a situation, Ishan Kishan can be included in Team India for the second Test. He can be a part of the 15-member team as a reserve opener.

Yash Dayal may also be fired

BCCI had announced a 16-member team for the first Test being played in Chennai. Left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal got a place in the team for the first time. However, now a 15-member team can be selected for the second Test. In such a situation, Yash Dayal can also be dropped from the team.

India’s probable 15-member squad for the second Test – Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (reserve wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.

As Team India prepares for the second Test match in Kanpur, all eyes are on the potential changes that could be made to the playing XI. Following a competitive first Test, reports suggest that wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan could be included in the team, while star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be rested for the match. With India aiming to strengthen its squad and maintain momentum in the series, let’s dive into the possible 15-player squad for the upcoming Kanpur Test and explore the reasoning behind these likely changes.

Why Ishan Kishan Could Come In

The inclusion of Ishan Kishan would bring a fresh dynamic to India’s middle-order and provide additional stability with the gloves. Kishan, known for his explosive batting in white-ball cricket, has been working hard to translate that form into the Test arena. With his ability to attack spinners and adapt to pressure situations, Kishan could be a vital asset, especially in Kanpur, where spin plays a major role.

Kishan’s ability to bat aggressively in the middle overs is one of his greatest strengths, and it might provide India with the boost they need to maintain dominance over the opposition. While KS Bharat has been part of the squad as a wicketkeeper, Kishan’s recent form and adaptability make him a likely choice for the second Test.

Jasprit Bumrah: Rest or Rotation?

Another major talking point is Jasprit Bumrah, who is reportedly being considered for a rest. Bumrah has been one of India’s most reliable bowlers across all formats, and giving him a break could be part of the team’s rotation policy. His absence could provide opportunities for other pacers like Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav to step up and make an impact. With a long cricketing schedule ahead, managing Bumrah’s workload will be critical to keeping him fit for key matches.

Though Bumrah’s pace and ability to swing the ball are unparalleled, India has enough depth in its bowling attack to cover his absence. Siraj, with his recent rise as a potent fast bowler, along with the experience of Umesh Yadav, will ensure India has a solid bowling lineup in Kanpur.

Possible 15 Players for the Kanpur Test

Here’s a look at the possible 15-player squad for the second Test:

  1. Rohit Sharma (Captain): The Indian captain will continue to lead from the front, providing a solid opening foundation for India.
  2. Shubman Gill: A rising star in the Test format, Gill has been in fine form and is expected to partner with Rohit at the top of the order.
  3. Cheteshwar Pujara: India’s dependable No. 3, Pujara’s experience and temperament will be key to anchoring the innings.
  4. Virat Kohli: India’s batting maestro, Kohli will be looking to regain his top form after a few low scores in recent outings.
  5. Ajinkya Rahane: The middle-order stalwart will be keen to make an impact with both his batting and leadership when needed.
  6. Ishan Kishan (Wicketkeeper): If included, Kishan will add explosiveness to India’s middle order and bring a fresh approach behind the stumps.
  7. Ravindra Jadeja: A crucial all-rounder, Jadeja’s spin bowling and batting lower down the order make him indispensable in Indian conditions.
  8. Ravichandran Ashwin: A master spinner on Indian pitches, Ashwin will be a key weapon in exploiting the Kanpur conditions.
  9. Shardul Thakur: Known for his knack of picking up crucial wickets, Thakur’s ability with both bat and ball makes him a solid option for the team.
  10. Mohammed Siraj: With Bumrah potentially resting, Siraj’s raw pace and energy could be the spark India needs in its bowling attack.
  11. Umesh Yadav: A veteran pacer with plenty of experience in home conditions, Umesh could fill in for Bumrah and provide firepower with the ball.
  12. Kuldeep Yadav: India’s chinaman bowler could be given a chance, depending on the conditions and team strategy for the second Test.
  13. Axar Patel: Another spinning all-rounder, Axar has proven to be a reliable performer on Indian pitches and could be included for his left-arm spin.
  14. KS Bharat: Although Ishan Kishan is expected to play, KS Bharat could remain part of the squad as an additional wicketkeeper option.
  15. Jaydev Unadkat: An experienced left-arm pacer, Unadkat could offer variety in the bowling attack and might be considered for the second Test.

Key Points to Consider for the Kanpur Test

  • Spin-Friendly Conditions: Kanpur is known for its turning tracks, and spinners are expected to play a major role in the outcome of the match. This puts players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and possibly Axar Patel or Kuldeep Yadav in the spotlight.
  • Pace Options: Despite resting Bumrah, India’s pace attack remains strong with Siraj and Umesh likely leading the charge. India may opt for a spin-heavy attack, but having fast bowlers who can reverse swing the ball will be crucial.
  • Batting Depth: With the inclusion of Ishan Kishan, India’s middle-order will gain firepower. However, maintaining a balance between aggression and stability will be key, especially on a pitch that can become difficult to bat on as the match progresses.

Conclusion: Will Team India Make These Changes?

The potential inclusion of Ishan Kishan and the rest for Bumrah offer intriguing changes to Team India’s strategy for the Kanpur Test. While Kishan’s presence could add more aggression to India’s batting lineup, Bumrah’s absence will provide an opportunity for others like Siraj and Umesh to shine. The squad depth and adaptability will be crucial as India looks to dominate the series.

With India being a formidable team at home, fans will be eagerly awaiting the final XI announcement to see if these changes materialize. The Kanpur Test promises to be another enthralling chapter in India’s cricketing journey.
