After winning the toss, the Kangaroo team came to bat first and scored 474 runs in the first innings. In response, the Indian team’s first innings was reduced to 369 runs. Then the host team (IND vs AUS) scored 234 runs in the second innings and set a target of 340 runs. In response, Rohit Sharma and company managed to score 155 runs. With this, Australia has taken a 2-1 lead in the series. 

Australia’s top order performed brilliantly  

Australia (IND vs AUS), who came to bat first after winning the toss, had a good start. The top three batsmen showed a brilliant performance by scoring half-centuries. Sam Constas and Usman Khawaja thrashed the Indian bowlers and made a half-century partnership for the first wicket. During this, both the batsmen were successful in completing their half-centurys. But in the 19.2 over, Ravindra Jadeja broke this partnership by dismissing Sam Constas. He scored 60 runs in 65 balls. After this, Usman Khawaja returned to the pavilion with a personal score of 57 runs. Australia lost Marnus Labuschagne as the third wicket, who scored 72 runs in 145 balls from his bat. 

Steve Smith scored a century 

While Sam Constas (60), Usman Khawaja (57), and Marnus Labuschagne (72) were dismissed after scoring half-centuries, Steve Smith hit a stormy century. He scored 140 runs in 197 balls. During this, he had partnerships of 112 runs, 44 runs, 53 runs, and 83 runs respectively with Pat Cummins (49), Mitchell Starc (15), Alex Carey (31), and Marnus Labuschagne (72). Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum four wickets for India (IND vs AUS). However, in the meantime, he was also thrashed by Australian batsman Sam Constas. He scored 33 runs in 35 balls against Jassi. Apart from this, Ravindra Jadeja took three, Akash Deep took two and Washington Sundar took one wicket. 

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s bat spoke loudly 

After Australia (IND vs AUS) were all out for 474 runs in the first innings, the Indian team that came out to bat did not have a good start. The team lost the wicket of captain Rohit Sharma at a score of 8 runs. Pat Cummins dismissed him at a personal score of 3 runs. KL Rahul returned to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs and Virat Kohli 36 runs. While the wickets were falling on one end, on the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal batted carefully and scored 82 runs. But due to a lack of coordination with Virat Kohli, he was run out by Pat Cummins. As soon as this wicket fell, India’s innings started faltering. 

Sundar-Reddy took over the responsibility

On the third day of the match (IND vs AUS), Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar took on the Australian bowlers played a stormy innings, and brought India back into the match. There was a partnership of 127 runs between the two for the eighth wicket. But in the 111.6 over, Nathan Lyon gave a big blow to Team India by taking the wicket of Washington Sundar, who was batting brilliantly. He could score 50 runs in 162 balls. On the fourth day, Nathan Lyon got Nitish Kumar Reddy out at the hands of Mitchell Starc and ended the first innings of the Indian team at 369 runs. 

Australian batsmen taught Team India a lesson 

Australia (IND vs AUS), which came to start the second innings on the fourth day, also could not get a good start. No batsman could make a big partnership for six wickets. Jasprit Bumrah gave the first blow by clean bowling Sam Constas (8). After this, Usman Khawaja (21) became the victim of Mohammad Siraj. Steve Smith was out after scoring 13 runs, Alex Carey 2 runs, and Travis Head 1 run. After six wickets fell at the score of 91 runs, Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins took charge. There was a partnership of 57 runs between the two. During this, both these batsmen also got one life each from the hands of Yashasvi Jaiswal. 

India got the target of 340 runs 

Marnus Labuschagne gave Australia (IND vs AUS) a big lead by scoring 70 runs in 139 balls. Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland shared a 61-run partnership to take the Kangaroo team’s score to 234 runs. While achieving the given target, the Indian team could score only 155 runs. Rohit Sharma (9), KL Rahul (0), Virat Kohli (5), Ravindra Jadeja (2) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (1) could not even touch the double-digit mark. Yashasvi Jaiswal fought alone for the team by playing an innings of 84 runs. But he had to return to the pavilion after the umpire controversially gave him out on Pat Cummins’ ball. After this wicket fell, no batsman could stay on the crease for long.
