Harmanpreet Kaur: All the franchises have released their list of retained players for the next season of the Women’s Premier League ( WPL ) cricket tournament. Veteran players like Harmanpreet Kaur , Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have been retained this time, while the team has released many big names.

Talking about Mumbai Indians (MI) , this franchise has expressed confidence in Harmanpreet Kaur for the next season. Harmanpreet will captain Mumbai Indians for the 2025 season, while this franchise has surprised everyone by releasing its most feared bowler.

In the Women’s Premier League, Mumbai Indians have appointed Harmanpreet as the captain of the team for the next season. Mumbai Indians have retained her at her old salary i.e. Rs 1.8 crore. Harmanpreet was the captain of the team last season. In 2023, Mumbai won the Women’s Premier League title for the first time under the captaincy of Harmanpreet. If we talk about her WPL statistics, Harmanpreet has so far scored 549 runs in 17 matches at an average of 45.75 .

Apart from retaining Harmanpreet , MI surprised everyone by releasing their best bowler Issy Wong. This England player became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League. On the other hand, if we talk about the last season, this player played a total of 2 matches for MI in 2024 in which she  took three wickets at an economy rate of 8.33 .
