- Gautam Gambhir: Despite getting special rights from BCCI, Gautam Gambhir could not save Team India from a shameful defeat. Due to which many questions are being raised on his coaching style.
Gautam Gambhir: Gautam Gambhir was appointed the head coach of Team India in place of Rahul Dravid soon after making Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) champions in the IPL 2025 season . Team India won the T20 World Cup 2024 title under the coaching of Rahul Dravid. When Gautam Gambhir was appointed to this post, the BCCI along with the fans had a lot of expectations from him.
The Indian Cricket Board treated him with great respect, rules were also changed for him in team selection, but despite this, within 4 months, Team India suffered two deep wounds in the history of Indian cricket. Meanwhile, it is believed that the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia will decide Gambhir’s future.
Questions are being raised on Gautam Gambhir ‘s coaching style
As soon as Gautam Gambhir became the coach, Sri Lanka, which came to India as a guest team, defeated Team India in the ODI series. Now New Zealand has defeated the Indian team for the first time in a Test series. This has been seen for the first time in the 92-year Test history. After these two big defeats, many questions have started being raised on Gambhir’s coaching style. Users on social media have even demanded him to resign from his post.
Gautam Gambhir got the most rights till date
According to the rules of BCCI, no coach is made a part of the meeting during team selection. Rahul Dravid, Ravi Shastri and Anil Kumble were also not given this right as coaches. But for Gambhir, the board changed this rule as well.
According to a report in Sportskeeda, a BCCI source said, ” Gautam Gambhir has been given the power that previous coaches Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid did not have. BCCI rules do not give the coach the right to sit in the selection committee , but he was still given a chance with the team selected for the Australia tour.”
Pressure increased after the defeat against New Zealand
Despite the complete freedom given to the players in the selection process, Gautam Gambhir ‘s
performance has not been as expected. The humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka and now New Zealand has put more pressure on him. If Gambhir is unable to improve his performance in the 5 match Test series against Australia, he will be deprived of the rights given to him by the board.
