Gautam Gambhir:
The last match of the three-match Test series between
India and New Zealand (IND vs NZ) was played at Mumbai’s Wankhede ground. After winning the Bengaluru and Pune Tests, the visiting team also won the Mumbai Test by 25 runs and whitewashed India 3-0 in this series. The plan that Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir had made for the visiting team at the Wankhede ground backfired on them. Due to which, it was almost certain that Team India would reach the WTC final , but with 3 defeats, that hope now seems to be ending.

After losing the Bengaluru and Pune Tests, India had the challenge of saving itself from a clean sweep. The team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir along with captain Rohit made several strategies. To welcome the visiting team, the Rohit-Gambhir duo prepared a spin track. A track on which playing was beyond the capability of Team India itself. Despite this, the Indian team wanted to enter the field with a different intention.

India caught in its own trap

Even before the start of the Mumbai Test, there was a discussion that a spin track has been prepared for New Zealand. But perhaps the Indian team management forgot that this was the same team that had taken advantage of the conditions better than India in the first two Test matches. Something similar was seen in the third Test as well. Indian batsmen were seen falling flat on their faces on the Wankhede pitch more than New Zealand batsmen. Ejaz Patel took a total of 11 wickets in both innings. Due to which India could not even achieve a target of less than 150 runs.

New Zealand created history

The New Zealand team’s visit to India was no less than a nightmare for Team India. The Kiwi team, which had inflicted many wounds on Indian cricket in the first two Test matches, gave India an unforgettable wound in the last match before returning home. This is the first time in the 92-year history of Test cricket that a team has come to India and clean swept Team India.
