Cheteshwar Pujara is forced to play county
Cheteshwar Pujara, one of India’s most reliable batsmen, has also been waiting for a long time to return to Team India, but he is constantly being ignored. This season, in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, he scored 402 runs in 10 innings of 7 matches for Saurashtra with an impressive average of 40.20, which included 1 century and a half-century. But despite this, he is not getting a chance to return to Team India. Pujara played his last Test match for India in the final of the World Test Championship against Australia in 2023, after which he has been out.
By removing Pujara, who batted at number 3, the captain and head coach started playing Shubman Gill at this number, but his performance in Tests was not as special as was expected from him. At the same time, in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, India had to face a humiliating 1-3 defeat at the hands of Australia after almost a decade.

However, after being dropped from Team India, Shaw continued to score runs in domestic cricket, but even then he was not given a chance again. After this, Shaw’s performance in the county was also excellent. Making his county debut for Northamptonshire, Shaw played an explosive innings of 244 runs in 153 balls in 2023. Even after this, he had played many strong innings for this team, but the selectors kept ignoring this young opener based on his previous performance. Whereas in the year 2024 also Shaw performed well for the same team.
Indian team captain Rohit Sharma’s performance as an opener has also not been very good, but just because he is the captain, he is getting opportunities continuously, Prithvi Shaw, who is considered the future of India, was dropped based on just a few matches.
