India lost the toss 

The final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was played on 9 March at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, in which the Indian team faced New Zealand. After winning the toss, Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner decided to bat first, after which Rachin Ravindra and Will Young gave the team a great start with a half-century partnership. However, due to losing the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had to face a lot of criticism on social media. He has not won the toss even once in the Champions Trophy 2025 so far.

A shameful record registered in Rohit Sharma’s name 

After losing the toss against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma has registered an embarrassing record. He has become the player who has lost the most tosses as a captain. In this case, he has equaled former dashing player Brian Lara. However, Indian fans did not like his losing the toss at all and they ridiculed Rohit Sharma by sharing memes on social media. 

Rohit Sharma gave such a statement after not losing the toss

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said on not winning the toss that,

“ We have been here for a long time, have batted first and bowled first. Now we have no problem batting later. It hasn’t changed much, we have chased targets and won as well. That gives you a lot of confidence, so the toss takes away from the game. At the end of the day, what matters is how well you want to play. 

That’s what we have said in the dressing room, don’t worry about the toss and just play well, that’s what we have done and we have to do that today as well. New Zealand has been a very good team for the last several years, they play good cricket in ICC tournaments. The challenge for us now is to play well against them. We are going into the final with the same team.”
