The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and England was played in Nagpur on 6 February. In this clash between the two teams at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bat first, after which England’s innings was reduced to 248 runs. The Indian team, which came out to bat in the reply innings, also did not have a great start. The team lost its first wicket at the score of 19 overs. After this, captain Rohit Sharma also got out cheaply.

Saqib Mahmood came to bowl the sixth over of India’s innings. He bowled the second ball to Rohit Sharma. The inswing ball bowled by him on the pads was tried to be flicked by the Hitman on the leg side. But the timing between the bat and the ball was not right, due to which the ball went in the air towards short mid-wicket and the fielder Liam Livingstone standing there took an easy catch.

With this, Rohit Sharma was out after scoring 2 runs off 7 balls. After the flop performance of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, he was expected to perform well against England. But by batting poorly in this too, he provoked the anger of the Indian fans, due to which he was reprimanded fiercely on social media.
