  • Bad days are about to begin for Chennai Super Kings in the future. In the coming 5 years, the condition of Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) can be like the current Punjab Kings. After knowing these three reasons, you too will not be able to believe in yourself.

CSK: The Indian Premier League 2025 will begin on March 22 with a fierce match between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In this league, the world’s best players will be seen showcasing their talent, while it is difficult for the youth to get a better platform than this to show their strength. But bad times may soon begin for the five-time title-winning team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Due to these 3 reasons, their condition may become like that of Punjab Kings in the coming 5 years.

I can’t find the captain!

CSK

As long as Mahendra Singh Dhoni was captaining Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the performance of this team was amazing. Dhoni last captained CSK in the year 2023 and that year the Yellow Army won the title under Dhoni’s captaincy, but Dhoni resigned from the captaincy after 2023 and in 2024 CSK came on the field to play under the captaincy of a new captain Rituraj Gaikwad, but under Gaikwad’s captaincy, CSK won 7 out of 14 matches and lost seven matches.

CSK was at number 5 on the points table. If CSK’s performance remains the same under Gaikwad’s captaincy this year too, then the team management can look towards another captain. Before Rituraj, Ravindra Jadeja has also captained CSK in 8 matches, out of which he tasted victory in 2 and defeat in 6.

Less investment in youth

Chennai Super Kings retained captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dubey, Mathisha Pathirana, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni before the start of IPL 2025. While they included other players in their team in the auction. The special thing is that at present there are 9 players in Chennai Super Kings, whose age is more than 30, while Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only player whose age is above 40. At present, the average age limit of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is 28.35, which is the third highest among all 10 teams.

If the Yellow Army continues to invest in such aging players, then at one point they will have to include less experienced players in their team and it will not be surprising if in the coming five years the condition of CSK becomes like the current Punjab Kings, which is currently engaged in building its team from scratch.

Dhoni has a strong fan following

The fan following of former Indian team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni can be estimated from the fact that no matter which ground he is playing on in this league, his fans reach there to support him and his favorite team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). As soon as Dhoni comes on the field, the entire stadium appears in yellow, and from this, Dhoni’s fan following can be estimated. Dhoni’s fans want to see him play more, but now it has been confirmed that this season is the last season of Captain Cool.

If Dhoni plays the last league for CSK this year and announces his retirement, then Chennai Super Kings can see a huge loss in fan following because it is because of Dhoni that their fans like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) so much and after Dhoni’s departure, this fan following can be halved.
