The Indian board refused to send its team citing security and political reasons. Also, BCCI insisted on conducting the tournament under the hybrid model. On one hand, the Indian government has not allowed the BCCI to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. But the Indian blind cricket team has got permission to participate in the T20 World Cup to be held in Pakistan. The Blind T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in Pakistan this year. This tournament will be played from 23 November to 30 December and for this the Sports Ministry has given permission to the Indian blind cricket team to go to Pakistan.

Waiting for permission from Home and Foreign Ministry 

While Team India did not get permission to tour Pakistan during the Champions Trophy 2025, the Sports Ministry has given permission to the Indian Blind Cricket Team to visit Pakistan. But the Home and Foreign Ministries have not yet approved it. If India wants to send a team to Pakistan, it will have to take permission from the Home and Foreign Ministries.

However, there is still no clarity on whether the team will be sent to Pakistan or not even with a few days left for the tournament to start. According to Shailendra Yadav, assistant secretary of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), the government did not approve the Pakistan tour in 2018. After this, India hosted this tournament in 2023. But then the Pakistani team did not come to play in India. 

India became champion in three consecutive tournaments

So far, the Blind T20 World Cup has been organized three times. The Indian team became the champion all three times. These three tournaments were organized in 2012, 2017 and 2022. In the final match held in Bengaluru in 2022, India defeated Bangladesh by 120 runs. In this, the Indian team challenged Bangladesh to score 277 runs. But the Bangladesh team could score only 157 runs.
