On top of that, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s negligence is being exposed to the world. Given this negligence, the former England legend has slammed Pakistan. He has even demanded action from the ICC while listing the mistakes of the host country.
The veteran exposed Pakistan
Former England cricket team veteran and current commentator Michael Vaughan has exposed the Pakistan Cricket Board. While talking about the poor drainage system during the hosting of the Champions Trophy (Champions Trophy 2025), he slammed Pakistan and demanded action from the ICC. He said-
“This is a world event. If Pakistan doesn’t have the finances and infrastructure to drain the ground, the ICC needs to intervene. If you are hosting a world event, the drainage system should be a top priority.”
Michael had fun even in the first match
By the way, during the Champions Trophy 2025, Michael said many things, which remained in the headlines. In the very first match of the tournament, he made fun of Pakistan. He had questioned the lack of spectators in the ICC event being held after decades. Giving his reaction to this, he said that the Champions Trophy is being played in Pakistan, this is a big deal. The first big event is happening after the year 1996. But did they forget to tell the local fans that the match was going on in the stadium? Where is the crowd after all?
Afghanistan got punished for a bad system
Pakistan has got the hosting rights of an ICC event (Champions Trophy 2025) after nearly 29 years. The host country could not reach the semi-finals, and the poor system has embarrassed the Pakistan Cricket Board. Out of the total 10 matches played in the Champions Trophy, rain has disrupted three matches. But when the match between Australia and Afghanistan was canceled due to rain and poor drainage, the fans’ anger erupted on the PCB.
In the match, it started raining after 12.5 overs of Australia’s innings and it continued for about 30 minutes. Due to this, the ground was filled with water. But the match was canceled as the ground could not be dried due to rain. After which the Australian team entered the semi-finals.
