BCCI has started preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. As per the ICC’s order, BCCI will have to announce the team on January 12. But before that, a big update has been received regarding Indian young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.
A report in Express Sports claims that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee wants to include him in the squad for the Champions Trophy. However, he will be selected as a backup opener. If Shubman Gill or Rohit Sharma are not available for any reason, Yashasvi Jaiswal will replace them in the playing XI.
Hardik Pandya will get a big shock
Hardik Pandya was given the responsibility of vice-captain of Team India in the T20 World Cup played in June 2024. But Jasprit Bumrah can play this role in the Champions Trophy 2025. However, he is sure to be selected in the playing eleven. Apart from this, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson will also be selected in the team.
Both of them will be given a place in the team as backup wicketkeepers. KL Rahul is the team’s first choice for wicketkeeping. He showed signs of returning to form by performing well with the bat in the recently played Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
