The five-match Test series between India and Australia (Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25) has started. The first match is being played in Perth from November 22, in which the Australian team has dominated so far. Meanwhile, bad news has come for the fans from the corridors of cricket. Former Pakistan cricket team cricketer and umpire Mohammad Nazir Jr. has passed away. He breathed his last in his hometown Lahore at the age of 78. This information was given by Mohammad Nazir’s son. Reports are that he was ill for a long time.

Mohammad Nazir’s son Noman Nazir said that his father was ill for quite some time. He was bedridden for the last few months. Noman Nazir has revealed that he had also pleaded to the Pakistan Cricket Board for help. But the PCB ignored it and Mohammad Nazir succumbed to his long-running battle with his health at the age of 78. Noman Nazir said that, 

“My father was badly injured in a road accident about five years ago. After that, he never recovered from his health problems and was bedridden for the last few months. After which he finally passed away while undergoing treatment in the hospital.”

Mohammad Nazir ‘s cricket career has not been very long. He has played 14 Tests and 4 ODIs for Pakistan. However, in his short career, he has proved to be the death knell for many strong batsmen. Former West Indies player Viv Richards’ name is also included in this list. He has troubled former batsmen a lot with his off-spin bowling. Let us tell you that Mohammad Nazir has 144 runs and 34 wickets in Tests. In ODIs, he could take only three wickets apart from scoring 4 runs. Talking about domestic career, Mohammad Nazir scored 4242 runs and took 829 wickets in 180 first class matches. He umpired in five Tests and 15 ODIs.
