The first ODI match of the 3-match ODI series between Australia and Pakistan (AUS vs PAK) was played in Melbourne. Australia’s captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl first. In response, Pakistan, who came to bat first, could not play the full fifty overs in front of Australia’s lethal bowling and collapsed for 203 runs in 46.4 overs. Australia also had to work hard to chase this target. However, Australia won this match in 33.3 overs with 2 wickets remaining. With this, Australia took an unassailable lead of 1-0 in the 3-match ODI series. 

AUS vs PAK: Australia beat Pakistan in the first ODI 

Australia’s team was given a target of 204 runs to win the first ODI. Australia won this match in 33.3 overs with 2 wickets remaining. In which wicketkeeper batsman Josh English played an innings of 49 runs. During this, 4 fours and 3 sixes were seen from his bat. Steve Smith played an innings of 44 runs. In the end, captain Pat Cummins scored an unbeaten 32 runs to take his team to victory. The hero of Australia’s victory was fast bowler Mitchell Starc. He scored 33 runs in 10 overs and sent 3 batsmen to the pavilion. Starc was also awarded the Man of the Match title for this best performance. 

Captain changed but Pakistan’s situation did not

A big change was made in the captaincy of the white ball format in the Pakistan team. PCB removed Babar Azam for the Australia tour and made Mohammad Rizwan the new captain of ODI and T20 formats. But, the captain of the Pakistan team changed but the situation did not. Babar Azam made a comeback in the first ODI against Australia. But, he got out after scoring 37 runs in 44 balls. At the same time, Abdullah Shafiq, who came to open the innings, got out cheaply after scoring 12 runs and Sam Ayub got out cheaply after scoring 1 run.

The middle order also failed badly in front of Australia’s lethal bowling. There was no big partnership between any batsman. Due to which Pakistan could not even reach 250 runs, forget about 300. Those who came to bat in the middle order played a slow innings of 44 runs in 71 balls. Kamran Ghulam got out cheaply after scoring 5 runs and Agha Salman got out cheaply after scoring 12 runs. It was a blessing that in the end, fast bowler Naseem Shah played an innings of 40 runs. Due to which Pakistan’s team was able to fight this match.
