While captain Rohit Sharma is going to lead the team, Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain of the team. While right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who played his last international match for India in the ODI World Cup 2023, has also been included in the 15-member squad, despite being selected in the squad, his playing in this tournament is not confirmed.

Mohammed Shami, who is returning to Team India after 13 months, has been selected for the T20I series against England, while he has also been selected for the ODI series against the English team. Mohammed Shami’s return will strengthen the bowling department of Team India, but before that BCCI itself can exclude him from the 15-member squad. In fact, till now Mohammed Shami has not been officially declared fit by the NCA and if Shami does not get the green signal from the SCA medical team before February 12, then he may be shown the way out before the tournament starts.

However, before this Shami (Mohammed Shami) has proved his fitness in the domestic tournament and has also spent a long time in the NCA. Shami, who played domestic tournaments for Bengal, represented Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, based on which he has been included in the squad for the 5 T20I series and 3 ODI series to be played against England, but if Shami fails to prove his fitness before February 12, then his dream of Champions Trophy may remain just a dream.

    These players can replace

If the BCCI medical team does not officially declare Mohammed Shami fit before February 12, then in such a situation he may have to leave the tournament and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj or Harshit Rana can be included in the squad in his place.

Let us tell you that Mohammed Siraj was not included in the squad for the mega tournament, but left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was selected in his place. Arshdeep has taken the most wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 while playing domestic cricket for Punjab, due to which he has been successful in confirming his place in the squad. Mohammed Siraj’s performance in the last few months has not been as good as the captain and coach were expecting from him.
