Team India: After facing defeat by 6 wickets in the Sydney Test, India’s dream of reaching the World Test Championship final remained just a dream. The Indian team, which has reached the final twice in a row, has been eliminated from the race for the final this time. With this defeat, India is now far away from winning the WTC title. In this news, we will talk in detail about the reasons why winning this title will probably remain just a dream for Team India.

The new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) will be played from 2025 to 2027. India will start this campaign against England in June this year at their home, but by the time the final comes, great players like Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja will have said goodbye to this format forever. Based on the strong performance of these players, Team India was able to make it to the final (WTC) twice in a row.

Batting is weak without Rohit and Virat

We have all seen an example of how fatal the consequences of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not performing can be on the Australia tour. Virat Kohli and Rohit were not in form, due to which India lost the series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have performed brilliantly for India for many years, not only have their bats thundered in India but both of them have also attacked the bowlers fiercely abroad.

This is the reason why Team India has not faced such a humiliating defeat in India as well as abroad for so many years. But it will be interesting to see which player will take up this responsibility after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Without Rohit and Virat, India’s batting has also failed continuously on foreign pitches. After Rohit and Virat get out early, India’s batting order collapses together.

Team India depends on Bumrah

In Australia, Team India’s main fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah bowled brilliantly. He took 32 wickets in 9 innings of 5 Tests with an impressive average of 13.06. He was chosen as the Player of the Series for his strong performance. Against Australia, the entire Indian bowling seemed to be dependent only on Jaspreet Bumrah. From one end, Bumrah was troubling the Kangaroos, while from the other end, bowlers like Mohammad Siraj, and Harshit Rana were conceding runs.

Bumrah did not get the kind of support he expected from the other end. No other bowler from India has been able to bowl at the level that Bumrah is bowling. That is why Australia was playing cautiously against Bumrah while he was playing explosive shots against other bowlers. In Bumrah’s absence, Indian bowlers have conceded runs at a run rate of 6 in the second innings of Sydney.
