For this, he had the support of Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav . After scoring a century in the first T20 against South Africa, he himself has revealed this.

Talking to Jio Cinema, Sanju Samson said about Suryakumar Yadav, ” When I was playing Duleep Trophy, at that time Surya came to me and said that you are going to play for Team India. Even if you flop, you will open in the next 7 innings. I will fully support you. For the first time I got so much clarity that I have 7 matches. That’s why I entered the field with determination. The team management had made it clear for the first time that I will open for the next 7 matches.”

He scored a century in the first T20 against South Africa

Although Samson was out on a score of zero in the second T20 played between India and South Africa ( IND vs SA) at St. George’s Park Stadium, but in the first T20 against South Africa, he thrashed the African bowlers and scored a century. Sanju scored 107 runs with the help of 10 sixes while facing 50 balls.
