Aiden Markram: After losing the first T20 match against India, South Africa made a great comeback by winning the match played at Porth George Park Stadium. The two teams clashed on November 9, in which the performance of the Indian batsmen was not good at all. Due to this, the team had to face a crushing defeat. On the other hand, after winning the match, captain Aiden Markram was very happy and he was seen praising his players.
Aiden Markram happy with the team’s performance
The performance of South African bowlers against India was excellent, due to which the team was able to set a target of only 125 runs in 20 overs. The Proteas team won the match by scoring 128 runs in 19 overs. In such a situation, captain Aiden Markram was very happy with the performance of his team and he said in the post-match presentation that,
I think we bowled really well. Made some really good plans and our bowlers performed really well. Talking about batting, you try to chase the target as quickly as possible, but today it did not work. Sometimes when you lose wickets together it does not feel good.
“The Fire Inside Us”
Aidan Markram further praised the batting of Tristan Stubbs and Gerald Cutzi. He said,
We have to accept it, we will definitely continue our brand of cricket. (About Stubbs and Coetzee) They are coming after a break, they have the hunger to score runs. I am really proud of them. The role that Simelane and Pieters played with the ball was huge. The young players also inspired the seniors. We need to focus on one game at a time. We won this game and levelled the series and we are happy.
Stubbs-Katzi pair saved South Africa’s honour
It is worth noting that South Africa, chasing the target of 125 runs given by India, lost 6 wickets at a score of 66 runs. Varun Chakravarthy wreaked havoc and took five wickets and put pressure on the opposition team. However, after his over was over, Tristan Stubbs (47) and Gerald Katzi (19) brought South Africa back into the match. Both of them made an unbeaten partnership of 42 runs and took the team’s score board to 128, due to which they won by 3 wickets.
