USA has scored 143 runs while playing first. India won the toss and invited the host team to bat, but considering the pitch of Nassau County Stadium in New York, USA has put up a respectable score. Nitish Kumar scored the most runs for the team, who scored 27 runs in 23 balls.

Arshdeep got Shayan Jahangir out LBW on the very first ball of the innings. After that he also took the wickets of Andries Gaus, Nitish Kumar and Harmeet Singh. This is also the best bowling figure for India in the T20 World Cup. Before him, this record was in the name of Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 2 wickets for only 11 runs in 4 overs against Australia in 2014.

The Indian team won the toss and chose to bowl first and when India started bowling, a bowler outed the opposition batsman on the very first ball of the innings.

This bowler is none other than Arshdeep Singh, who sent USA’s Shayan Jahangir to the pavilion on a score of zero on the very first ball. Shayan Jahangir was making his T20 World Cup debut. Arshdeep Singh is not the first bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match.

Arshdeep Singh is the first Indian bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match. Before him, Bangladesh’s Mashrafe Mortaza, Afghanistan’s Shapoor Zadran have also done this. Namibia’s Ruben Trumpelman has taken a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match twice till date. Murtaza and Zadran did this in 2014.

Ruben Trumpelman did this for the first time in 2021, when he made George Munsey a victim of a golden duck in the match against Scotland. Ruben has also done this in 2024, where he dismissed Kashyap Prajapati LBW on the very first ball.

Mashrafe Murtaza is the first bowler to do this

Bangladesh’s Mashrafe Mortaza became the first bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match. Mortaza achieved this feat in the 2014 World Cup match against Bangladesh on 16 March. Mortaza got Afghanistan’s explosive batsman Mohammad Shahzad out for a golden duck on the very first ball of the match. Just two days after that, in the 2014 World Cup itself, Afghanistan’s Shapoor Zadran clean bowled Hong Kong’s Irfan Ahmed on the very first ball of the match.
