BCCI: The most prestigious cricket tournament Ranji Trophy has started in India from 11 October. Teams from different states of India are participating in it. Before Ranji Trophy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made many important changes in domestic cricket. All these changes have been made keeping in mind the playing-11.

According to the new rules, if you spit on the ball, you may have to pay a huge fine. Whereas, if a batsman gets injured, he is made to retire. But, now this will not be considered. Let us understand in detail what new changes have been made…

BCCI changed the cricket rules

1. As soon as he retires, he will be considered out immediately

  • BCCI has changed the rule regarding retirement of a player. If a player gets injured or sick during the match, he will be considered out immediately after retiring. There will be no option to return without the consent of the captain.

2. Putting a thumb on the ball will cost you heavily

  • During the match, bowlers use ‘yuk’ to shine the ball. A penalty will be imposed on them. Not only this, that ball will not be used. A new ball will have to be bought.

3. Rules changed to stop runs

  • According to the new changed rule, when the batsman decides to stop the run after crossing, then a boundary is given by overthrow. In such a situation, only the boundary will be considered before crossing again. Hence, he will get only four runs.

4. These rules relate to allocation of points

  • Situation-1: If team A bats first and gets all out for 389 runs in 98 overs in the first innings, then they will get 4 batting points. While fielding, team A will be given 5 runs as penalty. If 402 runs are scored in 98 overs, then 5 batting points will be awarded.
  • Scenario-2: If Team A bats first and gets all out for 389 runs in 100.1 overs in the first innings, then they will get 4 batting points. Team A will be given 5 runs as penalty while fielding.
