Rohit Sharma Reaction:

The first match of the three-match ODI series being played between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie. In the match played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, a disappointing performance was seen from Team India, due to which the result reached a tie. Captain Rohit Sharma also looked disappointed after the match was tied. The Indian captain said that there was a bit of disappointment in the end, 1 run was left to be scored in 14 balls.

Speaking after the match, Rohit Sharma said, “The score was worth making. You just have to bat well to get that score. We batted well in patches. There was no consistency for us throughout the match. We started well with the bat but we knew the game would start after 10 overs when the spinners would come. We had the upper hand in the beginning, but then we lost some wickets and fell behind in the game.”

The Indian captain further said, “With the partnership of KL Rahul and Axar Patel, we were back in the game once again. A bit disappointing in the end, 14 balls, 1 run was needed. Such things happen. Sri Lanka played well. In the end, it was a fine result. The pitch remained the same. When we bowled, there was a problem in the first 25 overs and it was the same for them too. As the game progressed, the fast bowling got worse for both the teams and batting became a bit easier.”

He further said, “This is not a place where you can come and play your shots and score runs. You have to apply yourself and try really well to score runs. Proud of the way we fought till the end. The match went in both teams’ favour at different times. It was important to keep patience and stay in the game. We should have got that one run.”

Post-match, Rohit Sharma’s reaction was a mix of humility and confidence. He expressed immense pride in his team’s performance, highlighting their hard work and dedication. Sharma emphasized the importance of team cohesion and the collective effort that went into securing the series.
