Ravindra Jadeja: The Indian team got a historic victory in the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 played against New Zealand on Sunday. Ravindra Jadeja won the match for the team by hitting fours on the last ball of the 49th over of India’s innings. He received a lot of praise on social media for his contribution. But after India won the match, he considered not himself but the other two players of the team as heroes.
Ravindra Jadeja told the turning point of the match
The performance of the Indian players was amazing in the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 played against Dubai. The team appeared in great rhythm with both ball and bat. Batting first, New Zealand set a target of 252 runs. In response, Rohit Sharma gave the team a good start by scoring a half-century of 76 runs. But after his wicket fell in 26.1 overs, India’s innings seemed to be faltering. In such a situation, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul shared a partnership of 38 runs in the lower order, due to which the team was able to score 254 runs.
These players were called the heroes of victory
Ravindra Jadeja called this partnership of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul the turning point of the match and said that the way they batted made the job much easier. Jaddu claimed,
“My batting level is such that I am either a hero or a zero at the end of the game. Luckily KL and Hardik did well in that partnership, their scoring was the turning point of the game. The wicket was not easy to bat first. It is an important tournament, playing for India and winning the Champions Trophy for the country is a big thing. You feel sorry when you are not part of the winning teams after playing for so many years. But I am fortunate that I have been fit enough and performed at the highest level in winning the 2024 T20 World Cup and now the Champions Trophy.”
Half-century came from Rohit Sharma’s bat
New Zealand came to bat first after winning the toss and scored 251 runs with the help of half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell. These two scored 63 and 53 runs respectively. Apart from them, Rachin Ravindra contributed 37, Glenn Phillips contributed 34 and Kane Williamson contributed 11 runs. In reply, the Indian team scored 254 runs in 49 overs and won by 4 wickets. India has won this title after 12 years. During this, Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten by scoring 9 runs.
