In this ICC tournament, known as the Mini World Cup, 8 big teams of the world will be seen fighting for the glittering trophy, for which all the countries have announced their respective teams. At the same time, England has also announced a new 15-member team for the Champions Trophy 2025. Many big changes have been seen in this team. After being clean-swept in the ODI series by India, the England Cricket Board has taken many strict steps.
Butler will take command

The England Cricket Board has handed over the command of the English team to wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. Under Butler’s captaincy, England had to face a humiliating defeat in the T20I series and ODI series in India. In the white ball cricket played in India, England had to taste defeat in 7 out of 8 matches, while it was successful in winning one match. However, despite this, English team chief selector Luke Wright has once again expressed confidence in Jos Buttler and has entrusted the important responsibility of winning the Champions Trophy 2025 title on his shoulders.
A change was made in the team
England had announced their provisional team on 22 December 2024, but on 11 February they sent their final 15-member team to the ICC. One change has been made in the provisional and final squads. Jacob Bethell, who was included in the provisional squad, was injured during the Nagpur ODI. He had a left hamstring injury, due to which he could not play the Cuttack ODI and now he is completely out of the ICC tournament (Champions Trophy 2025).
Chief selector Luke Wright has included wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Banton in the 15-member squad in place of Bethell. Tom Banton scored 493 runs in 11 innings at an impressive average of 54.77 in the International League T20 League in the UAE, which included two centuries. Based on his performance, he has been included in the Champions Trophy squad.
