In the third match against England, the Indian team performed excellently in bowling and batting, but captain Rohit Sharma could not perform as expected by the fans. After Cuttack, he was expected to have stormy innings in Ahmedabad as well. But he was dismissed by Phil Salt on a personal score of one run on the ball of Mark Wood. Indian fans were also very disappointed with this flop performance of Rohit Sharma. In the presentation after the match, he talked about his innings.

Rohit Sharma said this about his innings

Indian captain Rohit Sharma said about his innings that sometimes things do not happen as expected. He said,

“I am very happy with the way the ODI series went for us. We knew that we would face some challenges in this series, it is good that we were able to overcome those challenges. (On getting out on Mark Wood’s ball in the third match) I could not do anything about it. Credit should be given to the bowler and the bowler is there to get you out and you as a batsman are there to challenge him. I wanted to hit the ball lightly and I could not do anything about it.”

A big roar before the Champions Trophy

Rohit Sharma said that the team will try to perform the same way as it did in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He ( Rohit Sharma ) claimed,

I don’t think we did anything wrong in this series. Obviously there are some things we are looking at (to improve) and I’m not going to stand here and explain them. It’s also our job to maintain some consistency within the team and the communication is clear. Obviously any champion team wants to perform better in every game and move forward from there. Very happy with the score (at the break). There is a bit of freedom in the team that you can go out there and play the way you want. The World Cup was a perfect example of that and we want to continue doing that. There will be times when it won’t be perfect but that’s okay.
