All the matches of the Indian team will be held in Dubai under the hybrid model.

Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, who scores an average of 58 in ODIs, and Jasprit Bumrah have not found a place in the ICC’s 2024 ODI team.
Three players from India’s neighboring country Pakistan (Sam Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf), and four from Sri Lanka (Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Charith Aslanka) have been selected. This is a big setback for Indian players before the Champions Trophy 2025.
Why didn’t you get a place?
Team India played only three ODIs in the year 2024, in which the performance of Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma was very disappointing. Jasprit Bumrah did not play a single ODI match in the year 2024, due to which he has not been included in the ICC’s ODI team of the year. India played this series against Sri Lanka, in which they lost the series 0-3.
While Rohit scored 157 runs in 3 matches in 2024, Virat Kohli contributed only 58 runs in 3 matches. For this reason, no Indian player has been included in the ODI of the Year team. Now before the Champions Trophy 2025, India will play an ODI series against England.
Sri Lankan player made captain
Three players from Pakistan (Sam Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf) have been included in the ICC’s ODI team of the year, while Sherfane Rutherford from West Indies has been given a chance. At the same time, three players from Afghanistan (Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Allah Ghazanfar, Azmatullah Umarzai) have also managed to make their place in it.
Four players from Sri Lanka (Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Charith Asalanka) have been included. The special thing is that ICC has given the captaincy of this ODI team to Charith Asalanka, who captained Sri Lanka in the ODI format, not a single player from Australia, England, India, Bangladesh, and South Africa has been included in it.
